Hot Water Burns Like Fire Campaign
The Hot Water Burns Like Fire campaign was launched on the 14th September by Wakefield MP Mary Creagh with the aim of persuading the Government to introduce legislation to restrict the outlet temperatures for baths to 48°C in England and Wales, regulations which already apply in Scotland.
Every year in the UK around 20 people die and 570 suffer serious scald injuries due to hot bath water, with the under fives and the elderly are most at risk.
Disfigurement can affect anyone, at any time or at any age. Changing Faces is a national charity based in the UK that supports and represents people who have disfigurements of the face or body from any cause.
B.U.G.S. is a small registered charity, founded in May 2000 by burn care staff and an ex-patient, based at the Salisbury District Hospital Burns Unit and serving a large regional area from Swindon to Southampton, Portsmouth and Weymouth, and across to the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.
