Saturday, 6th July, 2013 – Summer Social with Burns Family Group

The adult burns group in conjunction with the burns family group would like to invite you to our summer event on Saturday, 6th July 2013. Our event this year will be an adventure on a London Duck Tour on the river and sightseeing around the heart of London followed by a picnic in Jubilee Gardens. Due to there being limited seats on the tour (30 in total) this will be on a first come first served/reserved basis and only you plus one (adult or child) can join us; however other friends and family members are welcome to join us for the picnic following our return.

Things you need to know:

Where to meet – At the Duck stop, Chicheley Street

(see http://www.londonducktours.co.uk/plan-your-day/find-us

What time – We need to meet at 11.00am. The departure of the tour is at 11.20am prompt and the Duck will not wait for late comers.

Travel – Closest station is Waterloo. Directions are on the map enclosed. There are due to be planned disruptions as follows: DLR is not in service and engineering works are already scheduled on the District, Hammersmith & City and Northern lines. Please plan your personal travel in advance.

This will be in Jubilee Gardens, alongside the London Eye, close to where the Duck returns.  See map enclosed. The timing of the picnic will be from 12.45 – 2.30pm. You can choose to stay longer if you wish. Please bring along your picnic and refreshments and any other items you feel you may need, such as a blanket to sit on the ground etc. There are small shops close by and inside Waterloo station should you need to buy anything on the day.

Confirmation of reserved place:

We will be contacting everyone who expresses an interest in joining us on the Duck Tour by either email or phone call. Confirmation is important because we anticipate that there will be more people than seats and we may need to keep a reserve list. If for any reason you are then unable to attend please let us know as soon as possible to then allow us to offer the seat/s or reserve place to others. Of course everyone is welcome to join us for the picnic, so if you are unable to join the tour we would still love to see you at Jubilee Gardens.

How to reserve your place:

Email lmwilliams@nhs.net ASAP or call 020 3315 2504 and leave a message for us with the following information:

Your Name, Mobile Number, Plus One Name (if applicable) – this is very important if you do want to bring someone with you.

Best wishes from Lisa, Sally and Camilla

Our sincere thanks to our friends at Changing Faces, who have kindly agreed to host us at their offices in central London for our Support Group Meetings. This venue offers a chance to meet with others in a relaxed environment away from the Hospital or a noisy pub. As always the main aim is to provide a space in the London area to meet and socialise with people who have experienced some form of burn injury either directly or indirectly.

I would be very grateful if you could RSVP for the meetings so that I know roughly how many people to expect, can cater accordingly and provide a guest list to Changing Faces.

You are always welcome even if you do not have a chance to inform us in advance.

Please call me on 020 3315 2504 or email lmwilliams@nhs.net to confirm or if you have any questions.

Changing Faces is based at The Squire Centre, 33-37 University St, (just off Tottenham Court Road) London WC1E 6JN. The closest tube stations are Euston, Warren Street and Euston Square.

For more info see their Changing Faces and for directions click here.

I really hope you will be able to join us and look forward to seeing you there.
